Presentation Layout

The guidelines were to pick a subject matter, take at least 240 images, choose no less than ten photographs, and create a story in the display. The photographs had to be black and white and could not be cropped, but we could dodge and burn, which were two tools I used heavily on the project to ensure the highlights and shadows of the droplets came through. As a swimmer, I’ve always loved water, especially how it looks on the body. Having spent two photography courses learning how to photograph with models, I was prepared to direct my selected peers into different positions to manipulate the movement of the water. When figuring out which photographs to choose, I thought about organizing the images to reflect the human body. The composition starts off with the entire body floating in a pool to represent the completed shape, then it breaks off to close ups of the head, hands, chest, back, and legs. To further mirror the photographs, the breakdown of the body happens below the first image rather than above so it can move down like water does on the body.
