Scream magazine is a publication dedicated to all things horror, specializing in film and tv. When picking a subject matter, I knew I wanted this issue of the magazine to be dedicated to women. I specifically wanted to appeal to that gender demographic as horror is commonly believed to be more male centric. I designed the spreads of the article "Hell is a Teenage Girl" to represent the feel and voice of the film. Jennifer’s Body (2009) is a campy dark comedy so to connect the article to the design, I used pink - a color commonly used in the cast's wardrobe - for the campy mood and then I chose red for blood. I drew small illustrations for the characters, giving an idea of their role in the film (i.e., halo for angel and tale for devil). For the final touch, I had hearts scattered throughout the article, referencing back to a certain shot in the movie where Jennifer draws hearts on the boys she will claim as her victims.
